How To Care For Your Diamond Jewelry
Tue Nov 9, 2010 4:23:53 pm
Diamonds are a girl's best friend and that's why it is important to take care of them properly. They are known to be very strong and durable but they still need some TLC to stay as dazzling and ready to sparkle on any given occasion. Here are some tips on how t take care of your precious stone!
Don't Store Diamonds With Other Jewelry
Don't store your diamonds with other jewelry. This can cause scratches. Instead store your diamonds in jewelry pouches or soft tissue paper to protect them
Make Sure Your Diamond's Setting Is Secured
Inspect your diamond settings frequently to make sure they aren't loose. Bring your diamond jewelry to the jewellers at least once a year so that the settings can be tightened. An added bonus about taking your diamond jewelry to the jeweller is that they will clean your jewelry professionally.
Clean Your Diamonds
Everyday your diamond comes in contact with creams, hairspray and other chemicals which can dull your diamond's brilliance. To clean a diamond effectively mix lukewarm water with a few drops of ammonia and soak your diamond jewelry in the solution for a few minutes. You can also use a nail brush or a tooth brush to gently brush your diamond jewelry for an extra cleanse. Rinse off with warm water and dry with a soft cloth. Make sure to only use a cotton cloth as cotton is the only cloth that will not scratch jewelry.

How To Choose The Best Diamond By Using The Four Essential C’s Of Diamonds
Fri Oct 29, 2010 2:16:10 pm
Let’s face it, diamonds are extremely valuable and choosing the best diamond possible is a must. Gemologists at the Gemological Institute of Gemology developed the 4C’s, an international grading system to help consumers objectively evaluate, compare and contrast different diamonds. It’s is important to consider these guidelines when purchasing clarity enhanced diamonds and discount diamond rings online.
The four C’s will help you as a diamond customer understand a diamond’s characteristics and value. But remember, you have to see the diamond in person to understand the most important aspect of a diamond, its beauty.
The Four C’s Of Diamonds:
· Cut
· Color
· Clarity
· Carat
Cut
The cut of a diamond mainly depends on the shape of a diamond. The most popular diamond shape is round. Shapes other than round are known as fancy shapes or fancy cuts. The most common fancy shapes include emerald, pear, oval, and marquis cuts. New shapes like hearts, triangles, cushions are also becoming very popular.
Color
Diamonds are priced by how close they are to being colorless. The less color there is in a diamond the more expensive they are.
Clarity
Clarity
The clarity of a diamond is based on the diamond’s inclusions (internal flaws) and blemishes (external flaws). The GIA grades the clarity of a diamond by using the International Diamond Grading System. The grades range from flawless to diamonds with more prominent inclusions.
Carat Weight
The carat of a diamond has a direct relationship to its price. The bigger the diamond, the more expensive it will be. Even a fraction of a carat can make a considerable difference in the cost.
